WEB POSTER EXHIBITION - Divarkoob - New posters from Iran

This web exhibition accompanies a recent exhibition Divarkoob at the Vijeh Gallery in Tehran, curated by Parisa Tashakori and Amirhosein Ghoochibeik. Text and pictures were kindly provided by Parisa Tashakori.

The title Divarkoob is derived from an old name that was used instead of "poster" in Iran in the last century. This name has been selected by the curators for the exhibition of 98 posters of 51 active Iranian graphic designers.

In response to the question that why again poster exhibition, they say: In Iran posters are obsolete more than other categories of graphic design and there isn't any public place to present them. Meanwhile every year Iranian graphic designers create lots of posters for competitions and exhibitions but most of them wouldn't accede to street where the main location to show them is. In this case we are trying to represent posters in different cities and we hope it can help to increase the knowledge of students and people in there.

Fortunately we could show three series of Divarkoob exhibitions in Semnan, Shiraz & Tehran in Vijeh Gallery and with the presence of Majid Abbasi up to July 2010. Whereupon this exhibition will be held in October and November in another two big cities such as Isfahan and Mashhad with some changes in its composition and also a workshop will have been managed by Saed Meshki, Parisa Tashakori and Amirhosein Ghoochibeik beside of Isfahan event.
