There are only 10 days remaining to experience Henryk Tomaszewski (1914-2005) a Polish graphic designer, illustrator, educator, and one of the seminal graphic designers in postwar Poland. A retrospective exhibition held at the National Gallery of Slovenia covers more than fifty years of Tomaszewski’s artistic career including drawings concerning both private topics and public affairs, series of book covers for Polish literary works, and works from his best-known creative field – posters.

Make sure you attend last guided tour of the exhibition on Wednesday July 20 at 10 am, and listen to Radovan Jenko, a former student of Henryk Tomaszewski and co-founder of Brumen Foundation.

The last day of the exhibition is Sunday 24th July, 2016.

I’m not patient enough to admire beauty in itself — virtuosity of the hand or the eye. I prefer a miscarried proposal to mastered perfection... This is why my works often seem as though there was nothing to see, nothing ‘pretty’. These things are just unable to please the eye. If anything, they are fleeting, perishable... I stopped being concerned about making an impression with form. What I enjoy, however, is using a language I don’t know yet.
