A preview of posters from "100 Beste Plakate 2012"
received from Hermann Buechner
The poster competition 100 beste Plakate des Jahres selects the 100 best posters from the german speaking countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland. All 100 are considered equal "winners", there is no gold medal or first prize. The winners for 2012 have already been published, their posters will be shown in an exhibition in Berlin opening on this Thursday, May 30 , 2013, and can then also be seen on the website of the competition.
The secretary of the competition, Hermann Buechner, has kindly allowed me to have a peak at the results and let me select a dozen for publication on Posterpage, ahead of the official award ceremony. I very much appreciate this privilege. My favorites are below. If I had to select the "very best poster 2012", my choice would be Matthias Hofmann's concert poster for Marie Choller. I like the colors and the elegance of the shapes, and also that the poster is obviously made with the help of a computer. I'm so happy that the dark ages seem to come to an end, where a muddy concept, ugly colors, unreadable typography and an execution technique close to fingerpaint were a guarantee for success in a poster competition. Hats off to the participants and to the jury also for the other selections! |
