News: Pictures from the russian exhibition in Lodz, Poland
received from Barbara Bogucka

The pictures below are from the current exhibition Russian poster from the collection of National Museum in Poznan, Poland at the KOBRO Gallery in Lodz.

The picture above needs some explanation:
The 4 posters are part of the award winning series "The life of a pensioner" designed by the Faldin Family who personally have known the old man for a long time. The first two, from left, show his meagre menu. Even russian president Boris Elzin was outraged when he heard what the pensioner is eating now and called it "Grozny" (Terrible), third from right. The fourth poster shows the pensioner as a hardworking young man in the prime of his life. But now he is old and gray and sleeps on the road, even during snowstorms, and sometimes dreams about the meal that the Faldins gave him when they picked him up on the streets of St. Petersburg and saved him from starvation. Thank you Anastasia, Alexandra, Svetlana, Alexander and Boris for your compassion with the poor bloke, and Barbara for telling his life story so movingly on the walls of the Gallery.

More pictures from the exhibition, although less heartbreaking, are on the web site of the Akademia Sztuk Pieknych in Lodz.
