Graphic designer Kari Piippo (1945) lives and works in Mikkeli Finland. After graduating in Graphic Design department of School of Industrial Arts, Helsinki he specialized in illustration and poster design. He was the graphic design professor at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki (1989 - 1997) and president of Helsinki Poster Biennial (1994 -1998). He has held many individual and group exhibitions at Finland and abroad, and has given many international poster workshops and lectures too. He has taken part in most important international poster exhibitions since the early 80's and has been as a jury member in many competitions since '89.
Kari Piippo is a member of Alliance GraphiqueInternational (AGI). His many international awards include Gold from the Mexico Poster Biennial, Silver from the Lahti Poster Biennial, First Prize from the Biennale of Theatre Posters in Rzeszow, the Icograda Exellence Award in Chaumont, The President of the Brno Biennale Award and 1st Prize in Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition. Two Bronze Awards in the 8th Graphic Designers Poster Exhibition, Ningbo China 2001 and Bronze Prize in Korea International Poster Biennale 2002. Kari Piippo had been chosen to exhibit as the winner of the last years' Posters/Plakatok International Competition in Pecsi Gallery
