News: A plea and a poster for Darfur
June 16, 2007 received from Jack Rennert

Poster by Dan Reisinger, 2007
With this letter, I want to connect with you on a personal, rather than a business level. And I hope that it will move you to act.

As an American who has read about and seen the televised carnage in Darfur - as well as a Holocaust survivor who knows first-hand the tragedy and suffering of genocide - I was looking for an opportunity to contribute to the alleviation of the suffering of the people in that region.

Just as you helped us raise substantial funds for the Red Cross after 9/11 and for Habitat for Humanity following Hurricane Katrina, I now ask you to help me to raise a minimum of $20,000 for an organization that is doing a great deal of good in Darfur: the American Jewish World Service.

But first, here's what I expect 200 of our friends to do:

  1. We have commissioned a poster, measuring 27 x 39 inches, by one of the world's most illustrious graphic artists, Dan Reisinger. 200 copies of the poster were printed in Israel. This design is a gift from the artist. Dan's poster asks, "Who Cares?" The answer must be: "We all do."

  2. We will offer these posters for $100 apiece. All charges (printing, shipping, promotion) have been paid for by Posters Please, Inc. The full $100 is tax-deductible and will go to the American Jewish World Service. We ask that your check be made out to American Jewish World Service when you mail it to us.

I hope that you will help us - it's a small step, but one that we should all take.

Many thanks,
Jack Rennert
