Concert Sauvage – Prix Sauvage
A completely novel concert and ... posters from Macao, Teheran and Paris

In 2006, four leading international graphic designers from France, the Netherlands, Iran and China were invited to take part in a competition for a concert poster, the theme being the “concert sauvage”. They were Catherine Zask, Irma Boom, Reza Abenini, and Ung Vai Meng. The “prix sauvage” competition was held by the Muenchener Kammerorchester (Munich Chamber Orchestra) and organized jointly with Die Neue Sammlung – the Design Museum in the Pinakothek der Moderne. Both the competition, which involved designing the “concert sauvage” posters for 2007 and 2008, and the concert series are supported by the BMW Niederlassung Muenchen (Munich BMW branch office).

The competition’s context: It derives from an innovative type of concert, namely the “concert sauvage” initiated by Alexander Liebreich, the new Artistic Director and Conductor of the Munich Chamber Orchestra. The first “concert sauvage” takes place on February 9, 2007 at Prinzregententheater. In cooperation with the Neue Sammlung as the design museum in the Pinakothek der Moderne, the plan is for the kick-off to be spotlighted by a changed graphic design which corresponds to the conductor’s musical ideas and the experimental nature of the music program.

See the web site of the Neue Sammlung in Munich for more information.
