The Thessaloniki Design Museum was founded in 1993, on private initiative, and it is the first institution in greece to have as its aim a systematic approach to design.

The Permanent Collection comprises of 3.000 classic 20th Century industrial design objects. Arranged according to them (furniture, lighting, domestic appliances, office equipment, graphics, packaging) the collection illustrates the developments in the perception, use, form, aesthetics and technology of the product of industrial design.

There is also a library of 6.000 books, periodicals and catalogues on the subject of design.

In its 10 years, the Museum, in cooperation with Greek and International educational and cultural organisations and museums, has organised more than 80 exhibitions along with lectures, seminars and educational programmes.
