INFORMATION
The university: Mimar Sinan University ( Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy until 1981)
founded in 1883, is the oldest art and design school of Turkey. The
university campus is located on the Bosphorus coast, in Findikli, which
is a district in the city center.
The department:
MSU-GSF graphic design department was founded in the late 1920s.
Department's 4 years programme consists of graphic design, advertising
design, print making and illustration.
Grafist:
Grafist, International Istanbul Graphic Design Week, is an education
based event, organized by Mimar Sinan University (MSU) Fine Arts Faculty
(GSF) Graphic Design Department since 1997. The event is endorsed by
Icograda, the International Council of Graphic Design Associations.
Within a six days schedule, workshops, lectures exhibitions, student and
teacher exchange and special events are being held.Grafist is a meeting
point for internationally well known designer / educators with students
and graphic design professionals from various countries. In the last 5
years, International Istanbul Graphic Design Week had hosted guests from
Canada, Finland, France,Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Ireland, Israel,
Italy, Korea, Kosova, Lebanon, Macedonia, Poland, Russia,
Slovakia,Sweden, Switzerland, UK, Uruguay and USA.
Workshops:
Workshop leaders are working with students from different countries and
different design schools. 5 or 6 groups are being organized. Every class
consists of maximum 20 students. The workshop takes four days. During
the first three days, students are working according to the assignement
given by the workshop leader. On the fourth day, students present their
works during a day long public discussion.
Language English.
Submission free of charge.
Because of the limited capacity of theworkshop classes, each design
school may send maximum 6 students, to attend 6 different classes.

International Graphic Design Seminar:
On the 10th of May 2002, Friday, International Graphic Design Seminar is
going to be held in the MSU Auditorium. Speakers will give lectures. In
addition, a lecture about the works of Turkish graphic designer and
poet Sait Maden will be presented. An audiance of 400 students,
educators and design professionals from different countries are expected
to participate.

Hamdi Bey Gallery.An exhibition catalogue of 200 pages catalogue will be
published.
Party:
Icograda Party is going to be held in MSU Quay on the Bosphorus, on 10th
of May 2002, Friday. A lot of disco music and fun.
Admission 10 US dollars.
City Tour:
A city tour for the guest designers and the participant coming from
abroad on the 10th of May 2002, Friday. Details will be announced later.
