Who needs truth ?
Galeria Srodowisk Tworczych and the Association of Polish Visual Artists in Bielsko-Biala have a great pleasure to invite you to the Second International Poster Bienniale in Bielsko-Biala, Poland. The central idea behind the Biennale is to encourage both artists and audiences to discuss a number of vital existential and moral issues. The project began in 2013 with reflections upon the Decalogue as the cornerstone of Western civilization. This time round, we wish to consider the general notion of truth – its cognitive and ethical aspects, and its popular understanding. Truth is one of the elementary ideas permeating human thought. The quest for truth provides a basis for metaphysical thought, scientific knowledge, and the every-day life of each and every one of us. It makes us search for, define, and also question our cognitive abilities. We hope that our competition will show that truth is far from outworn or passé. To give you more idea about the competition, we attach a separate text with a number of adages, aphorisms, famous quotations, We hope that the proposed theme will encourage the entrants to make intriguing and individualized artistic statements. Posters and an application form should be sent until 7th March 2015 to the following address: ul. Slowackiego 27, 43-300 Bielsko-Biala, Poland. The 1st prize of PLN 6 000, the 2nd prize of PLN 4 000, the 3rd prize of PLN 2 000 and honourable mentions will be awarded by a professional jury chaired by Professor Wladyslaw Pluta from the Cracow Academy Fine Arts.
