The Shanghai International Poster Competition aims to promote the World Expo 2010 and the image of Shanghai.(for more details see official website www.ipc.eastday.com)
This competition theme is "Harmonious City" and entries should focus on the city's cultural diversification, economic prosperity, science and technological innovation, re-creating harmony in urban communities, and interaction between urban and rural areas.
A winning poster should make an original interpretation of the theme of the World Expo 2010, namely "Better City, Better Life," and create a good ambience for the Expo. A collection of excellent entries will be published and exhibited around the world before the 2010 Expo.
The jurors for this event include Hon Bing Wah (Hong Kong), Lise Vejse Klint (Denmark), Shin Matsunga (Japan) and Min Wang (China).
Winners will be announced mid-October 2006 and selected entrants will be notified late October 2006. the opening ceremony will take place January 2007.
The Awards:
- 1st Prize (one position): RMB35,000 (approx. USD $4400) and a certificate. The first prize winner will get reimbursement from the Organizing Committee for a return air ticket from his or her residence to Shanghai.
- 2nd Prize (two positions): RMB16,000 (approx. USD $2000) and a certificate
- 3rd Prize (four positions): RMB8,000 (approx. USD $1000) and a certificate
- Honor Prize (eight positions): RMB4,000 (approx. USD $ 500) and a certificate
- Qualifiers Award (130 positions): RMB800 (approx. USD $100) and a certificate
- Special Award (60 positions): A certificate of honor and a certificate of entry

Poster Requirements
1. The entry (entries) should be printed in two copies each (70cm by 100cm). No artistic mounting is required
2. The Organizing Committee will accept only a properly packaged CD-ROM with an electronic version, Illustrator, Photoshop (no less than A3, 350dpi) or Acrobat, of the entry. Soft disks or online files will be rejected.
3. Two copies of the Entry Form and the entry poster are a must. The Entry Form should be typed or hand printed in block letters.
4. A label, typed or hand printed in block letters should be attached to the back of the entry in the bottom right corner.
5. Ensure the entry is properly packaged in that any damage to the work will constitute a reason for the Organizing Committee to reject the entry delivered.
6. Official languages: Chinese, English
